spiritual growth of each young person. This ministry strives to provide
new opportunities and experiences for 7 -8 grade and high school youth
that will draw them to responsible participation in the life, mission, and
work of their faith community. |

Youth Group News
HS YOUTH GROUP: Happy New Year everyone! Get out of the cold, put on your best beachwear and come down to the gym tonight for HAWAIIAN BEACH VOLLEYBALL. Prizes will be given to best summer wear/style. You don’t have to make up a team, we’ll assign everyone. Don’t want to play? No problem - come and hang out or cheer on your favorite team. We start at 7:00 and end at 9:30 in the gym. Bring a friend. NEXT WEEK: Bundle up for this one - we have rented out the entire ice skating rink at Fritz Dietl and only our Youth Group will be skating from 8:30-10:00 on Sunday, 1/11/09. We will be playing our own tunes, and will provide some snacks and drinks. The cost is $13.00 and includes skate rental. BUT YOU MUST SIGN UP IN ADVANCE. Please turn in your permission slip and payment by next Thursday, 1/8/09 at the Parish Office (they are open most nights until 7 or 8), or bring it into Youth Group to Mrs. McCann. RISING STAR II RETREAT: The retreat is coming up fast -sign up today if you already haven’t gotten in your application form! We will be away the weekend of 1/23-1/25/09 at the Marist Retreat Center in Esophaus, NY. The cost is $120.00 and includes transportation, all meals,lodging, t-shirt and more! This is an experience that you don’t want to miss!! The Retreat Team has been working for months in planning a wonderful weekend and now it’s almost here! PHOTO CONTEST: The Catholic Center for Family Spirituality of Immaculate Conception Seminary School is hosting a photo contest. Top prizes in several age categories are up to $500.00. The theme is “Images of God in My Family Life”. Submission deadline is January 31, 2009. Why not try to express your gift of family through submitting a photograph in this contest? To request an entry form, call 973-761-9016 or email childeka@shu.edu. You can even pick up a form at the Parish Office at St. Luke’s. Group 1 are ages 13-16 years old, Group 2 are ages 17-20 and Group 3 are ages 21-24. JR. YOUTH GROUP: Get out the hot cocoa because we are going snow tubing!!! The Jr. Youth Group will be going snow tubing to Campgaw Ski Area on Friday night, January 30th. Flyers will be arriving in the mail soon. Cost is $18.00 per person and includes 2 hours of tubing from 6-8 PM. This is a really fun event, so sign up soon in order to get in on the evening. No last minute sign-ups will be accepted as we have to give a final count to the ski area days before we go, so we are asking for your help in signing up early. |
